AHN Allegheny General Hospital Academic Cancer Center
The Academic Cancer Center is the the network’s hub for leading-edge cancer research and complex patient care. It provides a wide-array of clinical and support services for cancer patients, including, state-of-the-art radiation oncology capabilities.
The facility has 49 chemotherapy infusion bays, conference and exam rooms with telemedicine capabilities to facilitate peer review and clinical collaboration, tumor boards, collaborative research projects and clinical trials development; a positive image salon; social services; nutritional counseling and financial counseling. It also has one of the nation’s first gamma pod systems, including gamma knife therapy for the non-invasive stereotactic treatment of brain tumors and other complex neurological conditions.
Within AGH, we constructed a USP 800 class pharmacy designed to support the entire cancer program. All requirements for safety hoods, pass through and air changes were performed. We tested the tightness of the wall construction to make sure room is balanced per requirements. We are familiar with the new standards and requirements.
The Cancer Center has a state-of-the-art MRI linear accelerators in the United States as well as two standard Versa HD LINACs. The Academic Cancer Center is located adjacent to the AGH Imaging Center.
